Reflexology

Reflexology is a natural wellness therapy that involves applying pressure to specific points on the feet, hands, and ears. These points correspond to different organs and systems within the body. By stimulating these reflex areas, reflexology aims to promote relaxation, improve circulation, and encourage the body's natural healing processes. This non-invasive practice is deeply relaxing and can help alleviate stress, tension, and discomfort throughout the body. Whether you seek relief from everyday ailments or simply wish to enhance your overall well-being, reflexology offers a gentle yet effective approach to nurturing your health and vitality. Come see Carter for an hour of foot reflexology and leaving walking on air.

Thai Yoga Therapy

Thai Yoga Bodywork is the practical expression of loving kindness. It is a traditional religious therapeutic practice rooted in classical Indian, Tibetan and Thai Ayurveda. Thai Yoga Bodywork uses the whole person to work the whole person, meaning the practitioner applies this therapy from a place of balance and is focused solely on the intention of transmitting loving kindness and facilitating the ease of stress and tension and restoring wellness and balance. This therapy is done fully clothed on a plump cotton floor mat that’s about as big as a queen bed. The practitioner uses passive stretching and rhythmic compression, and accesses the meridian energy lines throughout the body to help the client release stress and tension and return to a more centered state of equilibrium. As practitioners of Thai Yoga Bodywork, we embody the healing we provide. One of our mentors, Dr James explains the foundation of Thai Yoga to be rooted in the aspect of “pro mii wihan sii.” This philosophy states there are 4 attitudes that fuel and accompany the practice of Thai Yoga Bodywork and they are love, joy, compassion and equanimity (a balanced mind). Each session begins and ends with a prayer of intention for wellness and each session is an opportunity to attune to energy, attention, consciousness and breath. It is very common to leave a Thai Yoga session feeling elated, energized and full of joy. The practice of Thai Yoga Bodywork is a wonderful addition to a personal wellness routine and can be practiced with your loved ones. Carter and Christina are also available for teaching this therapy to couples and families :)

FAQs about Modern Cupping
Modern Cupping

Cupping has been a chosen wellness therapy for millenia. This therapy uses negative pressure, rather than compression for its therapeutic effects. The negative pressure is caused by suction using silicone or hard plastic cups that are placed on your skin. It is a safe, comfortable and extremely effective therapy, and is one of the oldest and most globally-practiced modality in human history.

Cupping feels so good because it is about lifting and separating the tissues. The suction and negative pressure works to release the rigid tissues and toxins, loosen adhesions and increase blood flow.

Cupping is excellent at reducing inflammation and muscular tension! It is quickly becoming a favorite holistic treatment because its effects are rapid and long-lasting. Because the action of cupping is to lift and separate the tissues, the decompression stimulates a relaxation response and initiates all kinds of instant healing processes.

Contraindications for cupping: broken bones, dislocations, hernias, slipped discs, organ failure, liver or kidney functional illness, cardiopathy, 3D varicosities, and those undergoing treatment for cancer. If you are experiencing a flare-up of eczema, psoriasis or rosacea, please consult with us prior to booking your appointment. Pregnant ladies should wait until their 2nd trimester and those ladies who are breastfeeding should consult with us before booking an appointment.

Are the discolorations bruises? No, they are the toxins that are being pulled out by the suction of the cups.

How long will the circular marks last? These discolorations can fade in 2 hours or up to about  2 weeks, depending on the amount of stagnation moved.

Massage

Massage therapy involves the subtle manipulation of soft tissues to elicit a positive change and the alleviation of pain and stress that can be stored in our soft tissues. Benefits of massage also include the awesome side effects of relaxation and providing a safe space to heal; improved circulation; better quality of sleep; strengthened immune response; decreased joint inflammation; better quality of life. How is massage with Christina different from others? Christina will guide you to use your breath and if inspired, she will also use the instruments at hand, like the gong, drum, chimes, and singing bowls. She uses hot towels and hot stones in every massage and has you lie on a  heated table as well. Massage with Christina is an upgrade to next level healing.

Deep Tissue & Therapeutic Massage

Each massage is different and Christina uses a combination of many techniques she has learned over the years. Most of her clients want either deep tissue or therapeutic massage, or often a combination of the two.

Deep tissue massage is a specialized form of massage therapy that targets deeper layers of muscles and connective tissues. This technique involves applying firm pressure and slow, deliberate strokes to release chronic tension and alleviate muscle pain. This approach is beneficial for individuals dealing with chronic pain, muscle injuries, and restricted mobility.

Therapeutic massage promotes relaxation, alleviates stress, and enhances overall well-being. Using gentle strokes and varying degrees of pressure, this massage aims to soothe the body and mind. Passive stretching, hot stones and hot towels are also part of Christina's therapeutic toolkit.
